Set up a mock interview
From Practice, click "New session". The setup screen has four things to decide:
- Mode — Practice shows hints and a model answer after each submission. Live is timed, no hints, closer to a real interview.
- Voice — pick George (warm British male) or Alice (clear, professional female). Toggle voice off entirely if you want a silent session. Voice is a Pro feature; the toggle is hidden on Free.
- Where you're applying — pick a saved application from the dropdown, or "Use a one-off job description". Picking a saved application auto-fills the Job Title, Company, and (if you've prepared questions for that role) imports them — you'll see the count of prep questions inline.
- Job Title — required. Auto-filled when you pick a saved application; editable. Company is optional.
That's the whole core flow. Hit Start session when ready.
Advanced options (collapsed by default) lets you override the defaults:
- Speaking speed — 0.75× to 1.5×.
- Override CV — pick a different CV than what's tied to the application. Useful if you want to practise with a tailored CV.
- Override Job Description — same idea for the JD.
- Question list (uploaded document) — use questions extracted from a document you uploaded under Documents.
- Override prep questions — pick a different role's saved questions. Useful if you've prepared a similar role and want to reuse those questions.
You only need Advanced if you're doing something non-standard. For most sessions, the four core decisions above are enough.
Free tier: 3 sessions total. Once you've used them, the Start button becomes an Upgrade prompt.
